Earls Barton Village Festival

In our first two years we funded a marquee on the rec for shows from Earls Barton Music, Not the Beatles, dances by Musical Roots and a show by the school children but this has proved to be unsustainable financially as marquees and the security and insurance are so expensive that ticket takings alone couldn’t cover the costs.

What it did do though was to begin the process of implanting the idea of an annual festival across the community and as a result we now have many organisations keen to show their talents and put on events during the festival fortnight as it has now become. Now we have an event that is more sustainable with the church, the drama group, the Library and many more people coming on board and with the help of venues such as the Methodist and anglican churches and the working mens’ club offering free locations our costs have been reduced to a sustainable level. Maybe one day if we have enough in the bank we will do a spectacular event again with a marquee. Our Art Exhibition continues to run however and grows bigger and better each year.
